The Power Of Vulnerability
Good morning, everyone. And welcome to the Bed Head Chronicles. Today, I want to talk about being vulnerable.
welcome to the Bed Head Chronicles. Today, I want to talk about being vulnerable. Being vulnerable is often looked upon as weakness. In my opinion, I believe that being vulnerable is one of the strongest, most powerful things you can do. And being vulnerable, you can often free people, liberate people.
From their fears, from their anxieties, from problems that they're having, because they finally know that they're not alone and that someone else has shared in that experience or shared in those feelings. I remember as a kid, I suffered from extreme anxiety and extreme fear all the time. I was just overcome with these horrible feelings of anxiety and fear, and I developed this extreme case of OCD.
That made me feel like a crazy person and I thought that I was the only person on the planet that felt this way. I thought I was the only person on the planet that had this OCD, these things that I did to try and free myself from these horrible thoughts I was having. In that day, nobody spoke about anxiety. Nobody spoke about fear. Nobody spoke about OCD.
So I felt very alone. I felt afraid and I felt crazy. What I focus on now is when I speak around the world, I talk about how I had that anxiety and fear as a child. I talk about how I had anxiety and fear on my path to becoming a world champion triathlete. I talk about how I still have moments of anxiety and fear.
But I talk about the tools and the strategies and the things I learned to overcome those states to overcome the fear. To get myself out of a cycle of anxiety. So in speaking about what truly made me struggle as a child. Yes, that's being vulnerable. But it's also empowering all those around me and empowering myself to find this great gift in what happened. It led me on a path to where I wanted to discover more about who am I. You know, what makes me tick? What are the things that are holding me back and what are the things that will see me soar in my life?
And in sharing this I'm freeing others. Others that may think they're the only ones that are overcome with anxiety or overcome with fear. Now they know they're not alone. I talked to my athletes often about my failures on my path to become a world champion triathlete. I failed miserably so many times over and over again, but it's through those failures that I learned so much, and that's where I grew the most.
And then sharing that they don't become so afraid of failure. If I didn't share these things, they may think that the first time they failed, they should just give up because that's it, there's no hope. But no, they understand that for someone like me, I failed over and over and over again, before I succeeded and achieved my impossible dream of becoming the best in the world.
They understand that that's a part of the process, but you have to be willing to fail in order to succeed. So when we're vulnerable and when we share our deepest secrets or insights into what has made us who we are. We are empowering so many others around us. We're liberating them. We're freeing them and letting them know that it's okay to be imperfect.
We are all totally imperfect. Life is not a straight line. You are going to be disappointed. You're going to be afraid. You're going to be anxious, but it's how you respond in those moments. And I'm here to share my story, to help them respond in a way that's gonna truly see them thrive and not be paralyzed by their fear or anxiety.
So everyone be vulnerable! and that doesn't just mean in instances like what I'm talking about, it means to be vulnerable in sharing your love. Don't be afraid to love with all your heart. Don't be afraid to be all of who you are. You are spectacular, just the way that you are. Feel confident in that and know that the people that love you are gonna love you for who you are. Be vulnerable. Express yourself. Share yourself with your world.
And you'll find that this absolutely makes your life the masterpiece that it's so meant to be. Thank you.
