Perfect Isn't Possible

Good morning, everyone and welcome to the Bed Head Chronicles.
Today, I want to share with you one of my very dear friends who gave me this book "The Dynamic Laws of Healing" by Catherine Ponder. I started reading it last night and I couldn't stop. It was amazing.
It all has to do with the thought that dis-ease (or disease) can be caused by an imbalance in your thinking. Thinking negative thoughts or carrying tons of anxiety, worry, fear or guilt can lead to disease in your body because our cells carry these thoughts.
Now the interesting thing about this is that it just started thinking about what are the thoughts that I kind of dwell in a lot in my life. One of those that I came up with, which I just realized last night or had an enormous breakthrough, is guilt. And this guilt stems from -- I basically feel guilty anytime that I am not delivering, giving, serving perfectly. Whether that be to my wife, to my mom, to my friends, to my clients, to the world... If I feel like what I'm being or doing isn't perfect, I feel guilty.
I feel like I'm letting people down. I feel like I'm not living up to what's expected of me. But as we all know, there's no such thing as perfect. No one is capable of being perfect.
So, basically I'm living in a state of guilt in every moment of my life thinking that I'm not as good as I should be. And this leads to anxiety. This leads to worry. This leads to fear that I'm going to lose the people that I love and care about if I'm not giving, being or doing things perfectly.
So, if you think of this -- if I'm living with guilt in every moment of every day, and that's leading to anxiety or fear, even anger at myself for not being able to be perfect, which doesn't exist, that can take a toll on my body. This was the most freeing thought because what I realized -- and for anyone out there who is listening to this and can relate to what I'm saying, perfection is impossible.
So, if you're striving for perfection in everything you do in the only way you're going to love and accept yourself as if you're perfect, you're never going to win that battle. You're never ever going to appreciate and love yourself because you will always be disappointed because perfection doesn't exist. It's not possible.
So, when I realized this, I just wrote in my journal "I have nothing to feel guilty about. I gave with all my heart and soul all the time with good intention."
Now, that should be a goal for all of us. I would say just do the best you can with what you have in every moment. Give with good intention. Love with good intention. Do your best with good intention.
"Falling short of perfection has made me feel guilty. Perfection doesn't exist. No more feeling guilty instead, I want to feel proud. I want to feel proud of the person I am. Proud of the love that I give. Proud of the heart that I share with all those around me."
And, just so you all know, this is not all about me. I hope to share these messages and have it make a difference in your lives as well. Think about how you speak to yourself. How you appreciate yourself during the day or not.
Appreciate yourself. Appreciate your effort. Appreciate your heart. Appreciate your soul.
I know that I appreciate each and every one of you more than I could ever express through words. Your love, your support, your encouragement, I know, is going to be a major part of my healing, of my becoming whole. And part of all of us becoming whole is really caring for our mind, body, and spirit. That means caring for the thoughts that come to our mind. Caring for every thought, every belief that we have about ourselves, that we have about others, or we have about the world. Take care of those thoughts. Take care of those beliefs. Make sure that they're thoughts and beliefs that serve you. Thoughts and beliefs that lead you to recognize the magic inside of you for being able to see the love that you have for yourself, the appreciation, the pride that you have for you and those around you. Care for those thoughts. Love yourself. Love those around you. Live with good intention and you will be whole.
I love you all so much. Thank you.
